In October last year the German film magazine Schnitt published my article about feminist porn to co-incide with the Berlin Porn Film Festival. Unfortunately it was only published in German.
It’s taken a while but I’ve finally got around to publishing the English language version. I was originally going to put it on this site but instead I decided to make use of a spare domain I had and create a whole site around the article. Thus, I give you the Feminist Porn Guide. I’ve also compiled a list of directors who are well-known as feminist pornographers. It was a bit tricky with some, trying to condense massive biographies into a couple of lines. Harder was when the director in question didn’t really have any publically available info for me to use.
In any case, it’s a starting point. If you’re interested in new wave, female-friendly porn, you can go there and work out what appeals to you.
By the way, the site is not safe for work. It’s usually a given with me. I had people linking to the article on twitter getting complaints because the page has naughty ads on it. I suspect I’m getting so immune to porn it didn’t even make me look twice… I thought they were all very tame. Ah well.
