Today is federal election day in Australia and I’m warming the champagne in anticipation that today is finally the day we vote the bastards out. Fingers crossed.
Of course, another lot of bastards will get in but they won’t be as awful, racist or conservative as this current lot.

It’s been a very long 11 years. I’ve hated this government for so long, it’s almost too amazing to contemplate that they might finally be out of our lives. That I might not have to listen to them on the news any more. Just think, I was only 23 when the Liberals first came to power.
By the way, for those non-Aussies reading, the Liberal party is actually extremely right wing and not liberal at all. In the same way that the US Republicans are all for creating a conservative religious oligarchic non-republic. Some political parties seem to take an ironic tone when it comes to names.
I also wanted to post about the election just so I could use the photo above. Someone has messed with the poster of Liberal (conservative) candidate Tracy Marsh and made us all realise that yes, she really does look a lot like Stifler’s Mum from American Pie.
