Making and Curating Porn In The Time Of Corona

Here in Australia we’re into our fourth week of taking COVID19 seriously.

We’ve been pretty much confined to our houses since about March 25. We’ve got police patrolling the streets making sure nobody enjoys themselves too much, at least not in any public place. If nothing else, it means that people have a bit more time to enjoy online porn (though, from what I’m seeing, they’re not really embracing paying for it any more than before).

Unfortunately the various lockdowns around the world have put the brakes on sex work and porn production for the foreseeable future. In a material sense, this means that many porn performers and sex workers have lost their income and are unable to work. Worse, many government welfare packages exclude sex workers from assistance specifically because of the nature of their work.

To help out our sex worker friends, I’ve offered to feature their previously existing films at Bright Desire. I’m going to add a new performer-produced film every week starting this Friday. I’ve reached out to many of our previous performers (those who are still in the business) and offered to license their work. This way I financially support workers while also adding content to my site at a time when I can’t make my own so it’s a win-win.

It’s been interesting trying to match what other people are doing with my own ideas about porn. A lot of performers are creating their own videos to sell on fan sites like ManyVids or Only Fans and these are often crafted in ways that best suit their own subscribers. It can be a balancing act trying to choose what will fit in with the vibe of Bright Desire while still showcasing the work of the performers. I’m seeing this as an opportunity to embrace these different perspectives, film-making techniques and ways of fucking.

I’m also looking at ways for performers to self-film and create porn just for Bright Desire. Still working on that one.

If you want to support Bright Desire performers directly I made a list of some performers’ social media and video sites in this thread. If you follow their friendship circles you’ll find a bunch more performers and sex workers that would no doubt like your support as well.

And of course, please consider joining Bright Desire. 🙂
