I spent far too long making this amusing video. It started out serious but then I made it extra silly with Doge and sound effects. I think the ridiculous noises really lift this into the realm of high art. And Herb Alpert’s Spanish Flea was just perfect for it. I normally use creative commons music but for this I’ve had to resort to this well-known piece music, simply because Spanish Flea is so funny in and of itself.

Despite all the stupidity, I think it still gets the point across. The male gaze is still predominant in porn and this way of seeing, speaking and imagining is why many women don’t enjoy porn.
It’s also why you shouldn’t dismiss the term “porn for women”. Until porn has a more diverse way of depicting sex – a way that doesn’t assume a default position of maleness – “porn for women” will have currency. It’s a useful term for describing something different to the mainstream.
By the way, if you’re not familiar with the Doge meme, here’s some info. Doge language just appeals to me, perhaps because it’s so utterly nonsensical. And it seemed to suit the film.
