It’s that time of year again, when I get on a plane and make the long, 3-day haul to Berlin in order to commune with my people at the Berlin Porn Film Festival. Especially since my hour-length male masturbation film “The Thought Of Her” is screening (Thursday 25th Oct, 3:15pm). Except, I’m not.
Alas, I’m staying at home this year and I’m feeling more than a little sad about this. Having spent six weeks and a shitload of money traveling around the USA in June and July, I just couldn’t justify spending more money going to Germany. Especially when the cash would be better spent making more porn.
I’m going to miss a lot. For a start, I’m missing the chance to see my first feature screened for the first time in a cinema and to talk about it to the audience. That’s making me sad. I’ve only had shorts screened at festivals in the past and this was my chance to pretend I was a real filmmaker for once 🙂

I’m going to miss the presentation by the lovely Gala Vanting who is a Filmmaker In Focus this year and who will be giving a presentation on the Australian alt porn industry (including clips and info from me).
I’m also going to miss out on meeting more of my porn heroes: Erika Lust and Buck Angel as well as writer Anne Sabo, who is launching her After Pornified book in Berlin. And I’ll miss my chance for the annual catch-up with Jennifer Lyon Bell, Petra Joy and all the Berlin regulars, the queer and crazy group of fun people who all share the same love of positive sex and good porn.
The program looks really interesting as well, with the usual eclectic mix of short films, documentaries, classic porn and features from all over the world and across the sexual spectrum.
Hopefully next year I’ll be there with a whole new feature film (fingers crossed) and can meet more great people and commune with the European porn community again.
