I’m sad to report that Adultshop.com has failed in it’s bid to get the Australian censors to change the laws regarding explicit material.

According to the SMH, the Classification Review Board has ruled that Viva Erotica cannot be rated “R” rather than “X” because it primarily has sex in it, without a plot, and thus has no “artistic merit.”
It rejected supporting submissions by the NSW Council for Civil Liberties and an ACNeilsen survey showing just 30 per cent of 1499 adults surveyed were offended by films showing real sex.
“The Classification Review Board has received no reliable evidence, by way of expert opinion or surveys submitted by Adultshop or otherwise, that there has been a shift in current community standards such that content ordinarily classified in the X18+ category could be now acceptable in the R18+ classification category,” it said.

The hardcore element of MARIE AND JACK, XANA AND DAX, and DAMON AND HUNTER all constitute less than half of the total running time, all have been recognized as outstanding achievements in cinema and/or sexual education, and all have been rated X by your OFLC.
