I’ve been away for over a week. That’s why the blog has been dead. Actually, the blog is getting very sporadic, mainly because I’m spreading myself very thin thanks to Bright Desire. Running my new site requires a lot of effort and I don’t have the free time to blog regularly like I used to. But then, Bright Desire is my new passion and it’s where I’m putting all my imagination and energy.
So here’s a post giving you a small glimpse at what I’ve been doing there recently.
A few months ago I collaborated with pole dancer, academic, politician and porn star Zahra Stardust to create a rather unusual short film. I originally wanted Zahra to shoot a standard fantasy voiceover but she suggested using a longer, more personal written piece called An Open Letter To All My Lovers, Friends and Mentors. Her scene shows her shrugging off the outer layers of her public persona and getting down to some serious self-pleasure. The end result is a blend of the erotic and political and it’s quite unlike anything I’ve done before.

The second scene coming soon to Bright Desire is a solo starring Lily Rei. Lily has appeared in numerous other adult sites and she’s a lovely, articulate woman. At 20 she’s also a bit younger than we would normally shoot but she was fantastic to work with and knows what she wants from porn. We shot in the afternoon, taking a risk by using disappearing natural light but I think the end result will be fab. A quick peek:
I also shot the first scene from my feature film. I’m really excited about putting this movie together; it’s technically going to be a lot harder to create than our usual shoot-while-they-shag methods. We hired a Canon 5d camera (with a fault lens, as it turns out) and did a lot of really structured shots for this scene… although when things got steamy we just had to let our performers go for it. Lots of fun.
I’ve got a Tumblr blog for Bright Desire where I’m putting up pics like these and animated gifs. I must admit, Tumblr still bugs me simply because I see so much rampant copyright theft all over it. Hence the heavy watermarking you’re seeing in these pics. I’m happy to share samples but I want people to know where they came from!
So I’ve got a big couple of weeks ahead of me: lots of editing, writing and updating needs to be done. If you haven’t joined Bright Desire, please consider doing so. The site is now nearly 10 months old and is really growing. I’m about to start asking for contributors in the hope of easing my workload and diversifying content. I’ve still got a lot to do but I’m so happy with how its going. BD is my vision for a new and different kind of porn.
