It took a while but Zentropa/Innocent Pictures erotic film All About Anna has been released in the US, distributed by Wicked.
On top of this, the film has officially gone platinum in Europe, selling 30,000 copies in Denmark. I know this because the lovely filmmakers invited me to a gala celebration of the event, which was held at the Museum of Erotica in Copenhagen.

I couldn’t go, and not because I was washing my hair that night. Unfortunately plane fares to Denmark aren’t cheap, even though the Danes are very nice to Australians and tend to turn them into princesses at every opportunity. Also, my Danish is a trifle weak. And when I say weak, I mean nonexistent.
Anyway, All About Anna is not really your average porn film. Indeed, it’s actually a proper, serious film about sex with lots of non-simulated shagging involved. The aim was to try to depict real life relationships rather than create the usual porny wish fulfillment, and thus it includes plenty of realistic problematic sex that is always a part of the greater story.
The press release has this to say about the sex occuring between the actors:
This was a particular challenge to the film’s cast, who had to cope with the traditional social and human traumas associated with having real sex in front of a camera. Fortunately the film’s actors and actresses managed to extent their dramatic performances way beyond the norm and truly managed to push the envelope, achieving new means of dramatic expression. The sex scenes were carefully planned and rehearsed prior to shooting, allowing the actors to stay in character through every embrace and caress…
The scenes in Anna’s apartment were shot in the real apartment of actress Gry Bay. Here, the film’s first major unsimulated sex scene was performed repeatedly by Gry Bay and Thomas Raft in front of a huge window, witnessed by astonished neighbours while traffic and everyday life passed by on the busy city street outside.
I haven’t seen the film yet but it’s definitely on my review list.
