No blog entry yesterday because I went to see the Countdown Spectacular, which is basically a big nostalgic extravaganza featuring a bunch of one hit wonders from the 70s and 80s.
Yes, folks, I have now seen Plastic Bertrand in concert. Oooh wee ooh ooh.. ca plane pour moi!
I also was privy to several thousand forty-somethings yelling “No way, get fucked, fuck off!” at The Angels. It was like I was in school again, except we were all wrinkly and going bald.

Anyway the final act was none other than Rick Springfield, whose main hit was Jesse’s Girl. And you know, he’s still very good looking. Indeed, I’d be tempted to say he looks better now at age 48 than he did in 1982. I wasn’t the only one to notice; most of the women at the concert seemed to go a bit weak kneed when he came on the stage.
I wasn’t sure if he didn’t come across as a bit of a wanker, actually. But still, he looked very good. Nice biceps, good wrinkles. Has he had plastic surgery? Some suggest it but I don’t think it’s obvious.
So I went searching for a photo of him as he looks now and instead came across this fabulous nude photo of him (on the far right) with Rick Brewer, Beeb Birtles and Darryl Cotton when they were in a band called Zoot.
Ah the 70s, when you just showed your bum for the hell of it.
Beeb Birtles was also in the show last night, playing as part of the Little River Band.
