\"AlienOver the weekend I watched all four Alien <\/em>films plus AVP<\/em>. It inspired me to get out my book of H.R. Giger’s amazing surreal artwork, some of which is amazingly explicit. Everything he creates has a lurking, dark sexual element to it, as if tapping into the vast and unvoiced fears of our sexual subconscious. It’s both arousing and frightening.<\/p>\n

Indeed, if you watch the first Alien film, I can’t help but be surprised that he got away with so much phallic and vulval imagery in 1979.<\/p>\n

I went looking for images from the Erotomechanics<\/a> series which depict metal cocks going into robot mouths and cunts. On the way I found Giger’s official site<\/a> which has heaps of examples of his work. <\/p>\n

It’s also got photos from the official Giger museum in Switzerland, which I’m definitely going to visit next trip to Europe. It’s got this completely brilliant looking bar<\/a>. I showed my husband and he shuddered. “No way could I relax and drink a beer there… I’d be waiting for something to kill me,” he said.<\/p>\n

I also found the above drawing of an Alien fucking a woman from Giger’s Xenorotica <\/a>series of prints. There’s something really awful about it, but it’s also compelling. I’m feeling tempted to spend the $300 to buy a print but it’s not something you can hang on the wall and show the neighbours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
