\"AVNThe AVN awards for 2008 have been announced<\/a> and, disappointingly, Candida Royalle’s Afrodite Superstar<\/a> only received one award, for Best Music, despite receiving a large number of nominations.<\/p>\n

It’s a real shame that so few other female-friendly films got up, especially considering the huge number of movies that were nominated this year – I made a full list here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, awards went to such quality productions as Face Full of Diesel<\/em>, Big Black Wet Butts 7<\/em> and Ass Blasting Felching Anal Whores<\/em> (shudder). I guess it’s not surprising, but given that there were so many good titles for women available, it would have been nice to see some recognition from the mainstream industry.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, congratulations to Candida, Venus and everyone else involved in Afrodite Superstar<\/em> – the music was definitely a standout in that film. And that’s saying something considering that I don’t even like rap or hip hop.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony produced a number of scary on-podium quotes which I can’t help but include here because they’re kinda funny:<\/p>\n

Male Performer went to Evan Stone, the second time he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s won it (first time was 2001). He thanked his “beautiful girlfriend Syren” and Ron Jeremy, “I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not sure for what reason.”
