The Sydney Morning Herald has a blog called All Men Are Liars<\/a> which discusses men’s issues. In the beginning it was a bit of a lad’s mag, but one year on it’s become one of the best reads in the paper. The author Sam De Brito often initiates discussions that the best feminists would be proud of. I find it a lot more interesting than the alleged “women’s blog” at the SMH which rarely goes beyond discussing shoes, shopping and dating inanities.<\/p>\n

Today Sam tackles the issue of rape<\/a> and raises some good points.<\/p>\n

[I’ve heard] the sentiment that women are somehow responsible for a man’s reaction to them – be that because of heavy-petting, flirting or revealing clothes – and that at some point this reaction becomes uncontrollable.<\/p>\n

I mean what the hell?<\/p>\n

I know I’ve been in bed with women, been having sex with women, when they’ve changed their mind and told me “no”, and yes, it’s been disappointing, once or twice it’s been humiliating, but I control the party in my pants, not someone else, I’m not a baboon and neither are you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

and<\/p>\n

Just as important is for men of all ages to understand that situations that, for example, involve a drunken or impaired women, are not opportunities for easy sex but for gallantry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The comments make for interesting reading and they’re fairly revealing too. A lot of guys still maintain that “she was dressed provocatively” attitude, it seems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
