It’s been quite the week. I’ve come home after a busy few days meeting with fellow Australian feminist pornographers and then madly shooting scenes for BrightDesire.com, filming late into the night. Luckily I had a cold which really upped the difficulty score but gritted my teeth and got on with it.<\/p>\n

Now I have the happy news that I’ve received two nominations in this year’s Feminist Porn Awards<\/a>. One is for Bright Desire in the website category. The other is for Connections: Real Couples, Joyful Sex<\/a>, the DVD I created using the hetero scenes you’ll find at Bright Desire. Connections doesn’t have a commercial release as yet but I will look into the feasibility of it after Toronto. So it’s great to have this recognition.<\/p>\n

It’s taken me seven years but I’m finally going to be in Toronto for this year’s awards, after promising I’d be there so many times before. I’ll be presenting at the Feminist Porn Conference<\/a> on April 6, discussing my career making porn online and the vagaries of the phrase “porn for women”. I’ll also be at the awards and film screenings. I’m so keen to get over there and meet all the amazing filmmakers, writers and performers who are part of this larger movement. Hopefully fellow Aussies Gala Vanting and Zahra Stardust – who also have nominations – can be there. Even better, I have plans to shoot more porn when I’m in Toronto, including with several well-known performers. It’s gonna be huge!<\/p>\n

I want to extend my congrats to all the other nominees – there’s so many fab people listed and I’m keen to see their work. And it’s going to be wonderful to finally meet with people I’ve either met online or have heard of through their feminist porn work.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, I’ve got two weeks to try and get myself organised for the trip and to get ahead with updates and editing. I hardly know which way is up right now but there’s no time to waste. Onward and upward, people!<\/p>\n
