\"\"<\/a>It’s a nice feeling, seeing your own film as a “featured item”. At the moment, my solo male masturbation movie The Thought Of Her<\/em> is on the front page of Dusk TV so I’m feeling rather chuffed.<\/p>\n

If you haven’t heard of Dusk TV<\/a>, it’s a Dutch cable TV channel solely devoted to providing erotic material to straight women. It’s the only channel of its kind in the world and it’s been available since 2009. The channel is now being rolled out into Belgium and is looking to expand into several other European countries.<\/p>\n

Dusk does its own research into what sort of porn they should be showing via a panel made up of over 1500 women. They are shown snippets of films and asked to rate them according to “spiciness”. If a film gets over 100 points, it makes the grade and they show it on the channel.<\/p>\n

The results of the research panels are here<\/a> and make for interesting reading. Dusk has looked at whether women like solo masturbation scenes, vintage porn, BDSM, threesomes, Japanese art porn and numerous other topics. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I found the research into views of male masturbation interesting, especially given that that’s what The Thought Of Her<\/em> is about. A panel of 700 women looked at three scenes (not mine) in May 2011. The response was mixed. Some weren’t interested in solo scenes at all; they only wanted to see partner sex. Others didn’t want to see “gay” type images (rubbing nipples, wearing G-strings). Yet they were happy with masculine-type guys getting off if the scene was shot artistically. Thankfully my film made the cut so I must be doing something right.<\/p>\n

The panels are made up of Dutch-speaking women so this research isn’t indicative of what all women want. Still, it’s always useful to see what people find arousing or interesting, especially given how little consumer research actually happens in the porn industry.<\/p>\n
