\"\"<\/a>From today Mexico is hosting the First International Film Festival of Female Porn Directors<\/a> . This event runs until the 26th August and features prominent filmmakers Candida Royalle, Tristan Taormino, Jennifer Lyon Bell and Australia’s Liandra Dhal.<\/p>\n

Their site is in Spanish, unfortunately, but a run through Chrome’s translate button gives me this information:<\/p>\n

“We want to make visible women’s appropriation of the discourse of porn.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“In parallel, we want to make a review and critical reflection of pornography and posporno, so we invite philosophers, cultural critics, psychoanalysts, writers, pornographers, lawyers, sociologists, sexologists, feminists and specialists in the field to join 5 tables round:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Freedom of expression<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>sexual education<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>ownership of the speeches<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>body, violence, interpretation<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>standardization of the study of pornography<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0.”<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The festival is located at the University Cultural Center, UNAM in Mexico City as well as several other cinemas.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Lyon Bell has blogged about the festival on her Blue Artichoke Films website<\/a>. She writes:<\/p>\n

During the festival, multiple films from each female director will be presented, followed by in-person public Q and A sessions with each director. In addition, three interdisciplinary panels will discuss \u201cPornography and Freedom of Speech,\u201d \u201cAppropriation of the means of representation\u201d and \u201cSex fictitious or sexual education\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
