\"AVNThe 2007 AVN Awards have been announced<\/a>, and it pretty much looks like more of the same. Manhunters<\/em>, a feature from Wicked Pictures, was named Best Film. It’s by Brad Armstrong, with a label of “action-erotica”, and sounds kind of like an adult version of Charlie’s Angels<\/em>. I have to say, I’m not in any hurry to watch it.<\/p>\n

There were also a score of other awards for every kind of porn film. Winners included Horny Hairy Girls 22<\/em> and Weapons of Ass Destruction 4<\/em>. Same ol’, same ol’.<\/p>\n

There were a couple of awards of interest to this blog, mainly because I’ve posted about this films before:<\/p>\n

Erocktavision<\/strong> won Best All-Girl series<\/p>\n

Tristan Taormino’s Chemistry<\/strong> won Best Gonzo Release (“I was completely shocked,” she said)<\/p>\n

Buck Angel<\/strong> was Transsexual Performer of the Year<\/p>\n

Jean Val Jean<\/strong>, who has featured regularly in the Playgirl films, was Male Foreign Performer of the Year<\/p>\n

Beyond that, though, it looks like the AVN awards have once again celebrated the status quo in the porn industry. Alternative voices don’t get much of a look-in. I mean, the movie awarded “Best Alternative Release” was called Real Adventures 84<\/em>, which seems to be just another “spring break flashing” movie.<\/p>\n

Update:<\/strong> I just read that Gene Simmons from KISS was there<\/a> and he received the first ever “Golden Tongue award. Who knows, maybe next year we’ll see this award given to the actor who best performs cunnilingus.<\/p>\n
