Dori Richter, a nice Jewish girl from Long Island whose life changes when she answers an ad in the newspaper seeking a ‘writer\/editor who must be comfortable with male nudity’. Dirty Girl takes audiences from the offices of the fictional ‘Loverboy’ magazine to steamy photo shoot locales as it tells the story of Dori’s quest to find a woman who is actually turned on by the images in her magazine… (From the show’s press release).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This review<\/a> makes an interesting point:<\/p>\n

One unclear point in the show was whether or not Ronnie Koenig was into the idea of her subscription base being made up largely of homosexual men\u00e2\u20ac\u201dshe seemed hell-bent on a quest to find average American women who wanted to look at her beefcake glossy. You put together a magazine filled with photos of oiled up naked men and, well…is the point to sell magazines or to sell magazines to women? It seemed to bother her that mostly gay men were into photos of naked men, but her magazine was selling. The fact that this was a problem baffled me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I haven’t seen it and I’m curious as to the outcome of this play. Does our heroine find any women who like Playgirl? And what is she saying about her former employer, and about women?<\/p>\n
