The Times<\/a> has an advice column about women liking gay porn. The sage wisdom is offered by two individuals in this case, Suzi Godson and the unusually named Dr Thomas Stuttaford.<\/p>\n

Suzi comes across all relaxed and cheerful about women liking gay porn. Her thoughts on the appeal to straight women are simple, and well-put:<\/p>\n

“In comparison with the podgy Swedish bloke with a blonde mullet and the ageing alcoholic donkey with a bad dye job, the gay guy gets the girls\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 vote every time.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

She also says that women don’t have to worry about “gender betrayal” with gay porn because there are no “pneumatic bimbos… begging for double penetration.”<\/p>\n

And here’s her theory on why many women don’t like mainstream porn:<\/p>\n

“Hetero porn is made by men, for men, and the empathethic woman can find it too difficult to override unsettling questions about the motivations of the female participants to allow herself to see porn as harmless fancy<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Well, MOST hetero porn is made for men…<\/p>\n

Suzi aside, I just had to write about this column because of the numerous generalisations made about women (presumably in a very staid, scientific voice) by the honourable Dr Stuttaford.<\/p>\n

“Not unusual, but only a minority of women admit to finding the observation of male genitalia erotically stimulating<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

In other words: No, you’re not a freak, even though only a very small number of women actually like <\/em>looking at dicks (or at least, admit <\/em>to it, because there’s something kinda wrong about it).<\/p>\n

He happily quotes Kinsey at every opportunity (never mind that the research is almost 60 years old) and seems excessively concerned about whether the woman’s husband will get upset at the presence of gay porn in the house.<\/p>\n

“Some female patients admit that once into middle age, the bodies of their male contemporaries are less alluring than in youth, and those in the magazines remind them of times past. I shouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mention this to your husband<\/em>.”<\/p>\n
