Dusk Porna Awards 2016

Logo DuskYou may already be aware of Dusk TV. It’s an erotic cable TV channel based in the Netherlands that caters primarily to female viewers and it’s been running for quite a few years now. For a while there was talk of a move into the US market but they didn’t quite get there.

In June they’re holding their 3rd Porna Awards. “Porna” is the term Dusk uses to describe female-friendly term. In many European languages the suffix “-a” is female. Thus, porna is a female version of porno.

The last Porna Awards were in November 2014 (I was nominated). This time they’ve changed their format a bit, added different categories so it resembles some of the other porn award ceremonies. The nominees and categories are:

They are also giving out a special “awareness” award  to the “Most Female-Minded Company 2016.” This is a company that primarily focusses on a female audience and who’s visions coincide with Dusk’s. I have a pretty good idea whose company that will be – it’s the one that has come to dominate our genre in the last year thanks to lots of output and media attention. (Hint: it’s not me)

The awards will be voted on by the Dusk Panel, a group of over 3000 women who vet the company’s programming.

The nominees for Best Porna reflect the more mainstream bent that the company has taken in the last 18 months. A change of personnel behind the scenes has seen Dusk take a new direction. I’m also a bit curious as to why a cable channel would give out sex toy awards.

I have a lot of films available, including The Fantasy Project and a number of individual scenes from Bright Desire. Dusk plays them all on a scene-by-scene basis rather as a large block of content.

The Porna Awards will take place at Undercurrent in Amsterdam on June 1st.
