The 2014 Berlin Porn Film Festival is going to be huge for me thanks to three separate honours: I’m hosting a Filmmaker in Focus Session, I’m on the short film jury and I’m premiering my first feature film The Fantasy Project.
I was thrilled earlier this year when Claus, one of the BPFF organizers asked me to present a retrospective of my work. I’ve been making erotic films for five years now and I’m feeling very chuffed that I have the opportunity to present some of my best work and talk about each film. I’m going to screen “Dear Jiz” and Jiz Lee will be at the festival so hopefully they can make it to help me present the film.

My filmmaker in focus session is on Sunday night, 26th October at 9.30pm.
Meanwhile, after four years of planning and hoping, my first feature film is finally finished. The BPFF committee generously agreed to let me premiere the film at the even, despite having seen only the trailer. I’ve only just finished putting the final touches on the film so I’ve cut it pretty fine. This film has been a labour of love, made over the last year, self-funded and created almost entirely DIY – I’m the writer, editor, producer and camera person and my husband is the DP and colour grader. We shot the film scene-by-scene with some wonderful performers and I think the end result is great.
It’s a porn film in the traditional sense, in that it features a lot of explicit sex and the aim is to arouse. At the same time, I’ve deliberately made an effort to focus on female pleasure and to push the boundaries of mainstream straight porn.

Lastly, I’m on the short film jury, judging the select group of films that are in competition. I was surprised when Claus asked me to do this as I was already so involved in the festival but I’m very honoured to be part of this. This is my fourth Berlin festival and I’ve been curating online erotic short films on my site Sexy Short Films so I guess I have some experience in this area. The films selected all look amazing so I think it’s going to be a tough choice.
Since we’re paying to fly to Europe I’m taking the opportunity to have a week in Rome being a tourist. Then I’m off to Berlin on the 21st. This year the festival stretches across five days with sessions in the morning as well as the evening. We’re bringing our cameras but I’m wondering when we’ll get the time to shoot!
In any case, it’s going to be spectacular. Many of the Aussie feminist porn posse is attending – Morgana Muses, Gala Vanting, Zahra Stardust and Michelle Flynn will be there with their films. I’m also looking forward to seeing many old friends and hopefully igniting new friendships and business relationships as well.
So I’m pretty much away for three weeks. In the meantime, Bright Desire will auto-update with my newest straight couples film, Tactile (a short version of which I’ll be showing at the festival).
