It’s the Periodic Table of Feminist Porn

I’d seen similar ones like the Periodic Table of the Internet and the Periodic Table of Atheists. It’s such an interesting way to visually present information and it’s kind of fun too.

I’ve put it on my Feminist Porn Guide site where you’ll also find the major article I wrote on the topic along with a listing of directors, films and sites.

One of the reasons I lost my whole day to this was the difficulty in trying to find the right place for people and then the worry about leaving people out. In the end I cheated and listed names in the “blue section” underneath. And I’m sure there’s more I could have added. It was also tricky deciding to categorize people, especially when a lot of them aren’t keen on labels at all. But it’s the nature of the periodic table to divide things up into groups, so there it is.

In any case, this is a basic, beginner’s guide to the main names in feminist porn. Hope you like it.

  1. Observations:
    1. The porn pioneers seem to have all their (valence shell) holes filled
    2. Queer & trans performers can form networks of strong covalent bonds that produce the hardest substances on the planet

  2. Thanks for the include, Ms. Naughty! Susie Bright, Nan Kinney and Deborah Sundahl were indeed pioneers of lesbian feminist porn, by and for women, mostly dykes. Fatale Media continues to thrive. We’d add Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano of S.I.R. Video as direct descendants…but then again, Periodic Tables don’t really have “offspring” per se. Regardless, we’re honored.

    1. Hi Christi
I had actually thought S.I.R Video was part of Fatale Media and I was thinking of Shar and Jackie when I included it. As it was, I wanted to give them a second square but that section ran out of room. I’m going to make a change so that it now says Fatale Media/S.I.R.

  3. It’s absolutely brilliant! Had a great time looking through it – and discovered quite a few names unfamiliar to me, that I look forward to learning more about 🙂

    xx Dee
