Female Friendly AVN Nominations – Titles To Root For

In Australia, “rooting” is a euphemism for having sex. So we’ve long giggled whenever an American says “I’m rooting for ___ to win.” Now I can use it in a title… and I’m giggling.

Anyway, the AVN award nominations have been announced and it’s another year of the same ol’ same ol’. Even the “alternative” category is laced with productions by big name companies like Penthouse and Playboy and is mostly comprised of “girls gone wild” type videos.

There are a few titles to root for (heh heh heh) – the ones I’ve reviewed or seen promoted as being female friendly.

Candida Royalle’s Afrodite Superstar has quite a few nominations under its belt. It’s in the running for Best Video Feature, Best Screenplay – Video and Best Music. Venus Hottentot is up for Best Director – Video, Mr Marcus has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor – Video, India is up for Best Supporting Actress – Video

Unfortunately Tony Comstock’s movies didn’t get a look in, which is a huge shame. Perhaps one day there’ll be an “Independent” category where smaller companies can get a look in.
