The Times On Women Who Like Gay Porn

The Times has an advice column about women liking gay porn. The sage wisdom is offered by two individuals in this case, Suzi Godson and the unusually named Dr Thomas Stuttaford.

Suzi comes across all relaxed and cheerful about women liking gay porn. Her thoughts on the appeal to straight women are simple, and well-put:

In comparison with the podgy Swedish bloke with a blonde mullet and the ageing alcoholic donkey with a bad dye job, the gay guy gets the girls’ vote every time.

She also says that women don’t have to worry about “gender betrayal” with gay porn because there are no “pneumatic bimbos… begging for double penetration.”

And here’s her theory on why many women don’t like mainstream porn:

Hetero porn is made by men, for men, and the empathethic woman can find it too difficult to override unsettling questions about the motivations of the female participants to allow herself to see porn as harmless fancy.”

Well, MOST hetero porn is made for men…

Suzi aside, I just had to write about this column because of the numerous generalisations made about women (presumably in a very staid, scientific voice) by the honourable Dr Stuttaford.

Not unusual, but only a minority of women admit to finding the observation of male genitalia erotically stimulating.”

In other words: No, you’re not a freak, even though only a very small number of women actually like looking at dicks (or at least, admit to it, because there’s something kinda wrong about it).

He happily quotes Kinsey at every opportunity (never mind that the research is almost 60 years old) and seems excessively concerned about whether the woman’s husband will get upset at the presence of gay porn in the house.

Some female patients admit that once into middle age, the bodies of their male contemporaries are less alluring than in youth, and those in the magazines remind them of times past. I shouldn’t mention this to your husband.”

He then goes on to reassure her that “pornography does not usually corrupt.” Phew, thank goodness for that!

  1. I’m glad that some women find gay pornography non-threatening and enjoyable, offering erotic delights that straight pornography lacks. It is nice to know that gay men are not the only ones out there who find the male body and male sexual interaction appealing; and that gay men and straight women can share their erotic interests, fantasies, etc. Whether it sounds silly or not, I actually think that kind of sharing helps them bond with one another. I know that I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts, opinions, experiences, and feelings about sex with my best friend, who is female.

  2. I thought I was a freak for being a woman in her 20s and liking gay porn. But I guess I’m not alone. It’s a turn on to watch two hot men kiss. Currently I’m into the gay-for-pay type porn because there’s something about seeing some hot macho hetero male crack on camera and admit he’s enjoying it. His face and his body says he likes it and wants more before he knows it, he’s doing the unexpected and cumming all over the place.
